InTouch Reader Takes NBC On Nostalgic Tour of Yankee Stadium
6/27/2008
In 1955, as a young man living in the Bronx in the shadow of Yankee Stadium, future radio and voice-over celebrity Les Marshak shot movie film using an 8mm camera given to him as a gift from his parents. The film was of the Yankee players exiting the stadium, signing autographs and driving away in their cars. There are close-up shots of Mickey Mantle, Billy Martin, Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto and many more. Recently, Les brought the film to the attention of NBC Sports with the thought that they might do something with it this year...the final year of the old stadium. Seeing what Les had, an NBC film crew immediately followed him around the stadium as Les told the story of making the film. That footage was integrated into the original and will be aired as a special feature on MIKE'd UP, a local sports show, Sunday evening July 13th at 11:30PM on WNBC-TV Channel 4.

Les Marshak has been an InTouch volunteer reader for over 25 years. His is the “voice of InTouch” and, in addition to reading publications and conducting interviews, he can be heard regularly on InTouch announcements and program intros. InTouch is honored to have Les as a volunteer reader, contributing his talent to the pool of professionals that make InTouch Networks the most widely accessed radio reading service in the country for blind, visually impaired and disabled people.
